Again, maybe. Every situation is different. And our SIV program is a mess
thanks in large part to the previous administration. But this is an American failure, the entire policy, the entire 20 years of lies. In that sense, it has similarities for Vietnam. But you know what? I heard the same arguments you're making right now back then. There were crises then, too. The South Vietnamese relocations and boat people, the utter nightmare of Cambodia. We may, or may not, see similar things in Afghanistan. It still doesn't justify our stance.
Now, answer the question; what will it cost in lives to stay and take others out and how many do we or can we accommodate?
