As school board associations are claiming, it qualifies as something that the DOJ would focus on.

If a football coach receives death threats, that would be an area of focus for the local law enforcement in that coach’s area.

If many football coaches are receiving death threats all over the country, then the DOJ could very appropriately involve itself.

So, I don’t think it’s binary at all. I don’t think the Garland letter is worthy of much attention at all - just the DOJ doing what it does - except that certain elements are dead set on making it into something it isn’t. Like criminalizing opposition to masks or CRT or something.

The only thing it criminalizes are specific, credible threats of violence.
