move in that direction. Dems are unsurprisingly proving to be about as bad on global trade as Republicans. It is too easy politically to plant the flag firmly on protectionist grounds today for all sides. Also, interestingly -- China is also at least pretending to push to be a part of the TPP -- something that has no chance of happening for a long time but shows just how strategic they can be. The longer we abdicate what used to be our role as a global leader on trade, the harder it will be to gain that role back and the worse it is likely to be for us in the long run. All part of the vacuum of leadership that exists in this country right now.
