same as they've been since about 1949; they want Taiwan under their authority. I'd say we just do our usual show of force in the South China Sea and they'll chill out for a few years until they decide to test it again, as they have done before. We have no base in Taiwan and haven't since 1979 and we have no colonial authority of any kind over them and they are not contiguous to China unlike Hong Kong. I just don't see the similarities.
