I do (without getting into the obvious differences between treaties and the

rule of law), but again I'm not sure what you wanted to do to enforce the treaty to your satisfaction. Clearly, Hong Kong is not the same place as it was under the Brits. I sure as hell wouldn't have wanted to live there after the transition and a lot of people didn't; tons of them came to Vancouver, BC for example. They are decidedly not what I would call a democratic society. In a couple of more years, we may not even be that. But how has trade been affected?

Also, HK is quite the tangent from Taiwan. Not the same situation in the least.
