OK, good answer. Follow-up question for you...
...There is simply never going to come a time when R candidates denounce Trump en masse. A few will, such as Romney (for whom I also voted enthusiastically), but I think you and I both know that most won't either because they agree with Trump and/or because they realize that doing so would sink them politically with the MAGA base.
There's tons of lunacy on the left -- outright batshit crazy stuff -- promoted all the time by lefty politicians of all stripes from the local school board all the way up to the presidential level. I know you agree from your previous posts, but perhaps you believe Trump is worse than all that combined. You're not demanding that the Dem politicians you vote for denounce that stuff (which would also sink them with their base), however, in the way you're demanding R politicians denounce Trump.
My question is this: Philosophically, you are currently voting against the policies you prefer (e.g., right-wing/conservative/Republican policy) because of your distaste for Trump the person, and you're going to continue to do so unless the R candidate in question disavows Trump. Is there any limit to what you'll put up with from the left? Or does the Trump issue "trump" everything else?
I'm not asking this to challenge your beliefs or say you're wrong in your thinking -- in fact, I get it. I'm asking because I think you're a good proxy for NeverTrumpers, so I'm trying to get a window into what it would take to bring them back to voting R, or if instead they're effectively lost forever, given that Rs aren't going to be denouncing Trump, at least for the next 5-10 years while he's still around.
