This is the kind of thoughtful analysis that gets you "Domino Effects" and
60,000 dead and 300,000 wounded American soldiers in Viet Nam.
We suffered enough casualties in Afghanistan. We did better there than the Russians did, so anybody drawing a conclusion of American weakness based on Afghanistan would perforce have to draw a conclusion of even greater Russian weakness.
One of the very few things I give credit to Trump for is having the guts to call it quits, even if he didn't have the guts to do the withdrawal operation himself, leaving it to his successor.
Did Biden do a perfect job? No. Did he do a pretty good job? Maybe, but I'd also accept "adequate," and even "barely adequate." I won't say "less than adequate" because the pretty much unconditional pullout (I'd call it a "pullout" and not a "surrender") was Trump's deal, and Biden did about as well as could be expected with what Trump left him to work with.
