That's kind of making my point, that these statistics like "charging 5X

what they do today", and the increases claimed are deceptive at best, and blatant lies at worst. All designed as dishonest scare tactics for political purposes.

At $14000/yr stated, that's $1166/mo. That would give you a cheapest rate for the young and healthy of $233/mo. (1/5th)

Assuming the youth stays the same going forward, with a 3x cap that would be $700/mo for the 64 yr old now.

Yet to show the "increase", that same example used $142/mo ($1700/yr), not $700. The only way that "increase" happens is if someone else is paying the difference via a subsidy of $558/mo ($700-$142 cited, which is almost 80% of the premium paid by someone else). It's not like that other 80% goes away, nor is really part of the "increase" to be assigned to Trumpcare. And again, if that many people are getting 80% subsidies now, let alone anywhere close to 42% of the workforce, I would only wonder how OCare didn't crash and burn long ago. So let's not act like this type of increase will be the "norm".

Finally, again, even this remote example assumes that only OCare compliant policies will be available going forward (understandably the CBO can't score plans that will become available at this point in the scoring). That this 64 yr old rarity will only have the option of paying $14K/yr or going uninsured.

Of course there will be increases, but that's because the subsidies are going away (at least in part). But to just focus on those increases, particularly while ignoring the subsidy part in calculating them, without considering the taxes for someone else to pay for them, as well as the increased competitive aspects and changes in plans available to help lower costs, is not giving an honest picture of what this plan does. There has to be a balancing act of all these things in the calculus.
