What's this?

It's an example of (what should be) our interests aligning with Putins.

Putin is not a friend, and Trump is not a good president, but this is the best possible thing for stability in the region at this point. Would have been better if we stayed out entirely, hundreds of thousands of lives would have been saved and the region would be much more stable with Saddam, Gaddafi and Assad in place. Israel wouldn't like that, nor would advocates of US world hegemony and empire, but it's true.

Syria, Ukraine and Turkey are the flash points. Given that, a reasonable working relationship w/ Russia is not a bad thing. Now there's all this peripheral shit with Trump that makes him untrustworthy, but in general, minimizing tensions with Putin and shifting course from what we've done in the past is a good thing. Don't let hatred for Trump cloud how you're looking at this (noy you specifically, general you).
