I'm on board with the establisment notion, as far as it goes.

I just object to the CIA as being the dark force behind it. I tried to say that our foreign policy for the last generation has been a collaborative enterprise with ALL government entities playing significant roles and doing so willingly and with the consent of nearly all.

As far as perfect example of foreign policy.........I simply don't think it has ever existed at any time or ever will.

From what little I can glean from our foreign policy now (such as it is) it seems more like the isolationist policy that gripped the country in the interwar years and that did not turn out well as we came to experience. With that in mind, I do know that our foreign policy, while imperfect, has played no small part in avoiding the major conflicts of the past century and I'm concerned that turning turtle at this juncture is unwise.
