most of it's power from oil burning generators (85%) with another 7% coming from coal burning. They have the most expensive power in the United States. Now the state has a goal of getting to 70% power production with renewables by 2030 and why shouldn't they? Environmental and financial benefits aside, it make sense for them to be less dependent on shipments of fossil fuels. They should be able to hit the goal if everyone goes to solar panels but only 10% of the residents have it. But you have to look at who benefits from not switching and what it will cost to get everyone to solar. There is resistance built into the infrastructure.

This is just a microcosm of the larger problem. But like Hawaii, we don't need to think about replacing 100% of the fossils right away. Partial solutions in the interim are better than no movement at all.
