What's this?

It is simply a matter of scale. The energy demands of this nation

are incredible and growing every day and the push to reduce our fossil fuel dependency via electric cars is only going increase the slope in that demand curve. None of the obstacles are insurmountable, but to think that we are going to meet the energy demands of this nation with renewable sources by 2050 (or what ever short-term date people want to pick) is folly. Short of a combined Manhattan Project/Apollo level effort (something for which neither the funding nor political will exists), it ain't happening. Yes, theoretically, it COULD happen, but theoretically, we should be living on the moon and driving flying cars by now. It's a nice fantasy, but isn't happening. I'm 52 and renewable will no supply the majority of the nation's energy demand in my lifetime.
