Yes, I am serious with that line.

I'm not saying all politicians are equally effective and I'm not saying that I agree with them on policy in every case, but when they are free to debate rationally without fear of the crazies in each party (Sanders on the left and Cruz/Paul on the right) and activist websites pulling them to the extreme they can come up with practical solutions to problems. The problem is when Breitbart or Mother Jones starts riling up activists and threatening their election chances. I want my government to be unresponsive to the people because the people are generally too stupid to understand what is going on.
