Lots of very mixed emotions about his statment in yesterday's press........
briefing, but just one observation about the words chosen by he and the president to convey sympathy to the wife of the soldier. Kelly related the story about the call he got upon the death of his son. It was a conversation from one military man to another. It included the subject of a soldier being aware of the dangers in signing up for the military. I can easily see how that is a matter of fact statement between military men but could also be taken as callous by civilian family members. Apparently Kelly did not recognize this as he counseled Trump on what to say and it seems clear that Trump likely bumbled it badly and was poorly prepared in terms of knowing anything about the soldier or his family.
