before "he knew what he signed up for"? That was how she started all this, while never mentioning the "but it still hurts". There is little doubt she tried to depict the call very differently than what it was. And most likely for political purposes only.
Kelly was in the room. Kelly advised Trump before making the call. Kelly would know, and not be shy to share his opinion IMO, whether or not the call was respectful, as he said it was.
There are very valid reasons to be cynical of Ms. Wilson's depiction. She made this political, not Trump. He responded to the attack (which you can validly argue he should rise above). The one thing I will defend Ms. Wilson on is that I don't think the criticism of her "listening in", etc. is anywhere near valid. That was the widow's choice whether or not to allow that, and the widow's choice alone.
