Bravo. And a very well phrased rejection of Trumpism,

which is all about scapegoating, driving wedges into our society, and making unrealistic promises about preventing the march into the future. Can't do it no matter how hard we try.

For many, many reasons, I think these are overblown fears, which is only natural given that nobody can predict what the world will look like in 2030, or whenever this predicted automation threshold hits us.

I think a lot of people miss the mark when they express concern about what govt will do about this. On whole, probably not much. But do people really think business will evolve to where nobody has any work, and therefore nobody has any source of income, and therefore there is an ever shrinking market for absolutely everything? What will be the point of all these shiny new automated factories and services if there is nobody left who can buy their wares?

I couldn't begin to tell you how we'll evolve, really anymore than could have been done as the world moved from agrarian to industrial. We're looking at that transition in the rearview mirror, so of course now we say there was nothing to worry about - factories still needed human workers, and a lot of them. But in 1840, when the vast majority earned their living on farms, people would not have seen it that way.

By let's say 2060 at latest, there will be all kinds of retrospectives and case studies about the quaint fears that humanity had back at the turn of the century.

Assuming of course that this fear of the unknown future doesn't drive populism around the world so much that we blow ourselves up. Which is probably a higher probability than most of us imagine (although I wouldn't characterize that as a likely outcome).

Quicker we get Trumpism/Bannonism, and all its sister populist-nationalist movements arounf the world, relegated to the sidelines, the less of a chance we'll see that happen.
