On the other hand...


We're looking at that transition in the rear view mirror, so of course now we say there was nothing to worry about - factories still needed human workers, and a lot of them. But in 1840, when the vast majority earned their living on farms, people would not have seen it that way.

The aftermath of the industrial revolution gave rise to the wonders of Communism, two world wars, and the creaking ruin that is most of the Western world's version of a social welfare system.

Yeah, we adapted. But it wasn't pretty. Not simply a matter of the farmers going to work in the factories and everything just kept on working great.

Still. Today. On this very board. We see issues arising that are based on a segment of society that hasn't moved on from the way things were in Agrarian America.

There will be change, FAR wider in scope that what the world's blue collar works end up doing with their hands.
