The primary difference is that the Trump investigation is really the investigation into election tampering by Russia which is very serious business. It is just that all roads seem to lead to Trump.

Clinton was an ass, but his investigation was uncalled for, UNLESS you make the argument that participating in an affair puts you at risk of being blackmailed. If you go down that route, we also need to investigate all Congress people all the time. I could see that, but we need consistency, including all the way up to our current President (Hope, anyone?).

Ironically, I have a friend who works in intelligence who railed on Clinton endlessly for that reason. Then he had his own affair, but he doesn't want to talk about the risk of him being blackmailed.
