The fact that the lie caused the suit to be dismissed was not why he was impeached, and in fact the claim that his lie about an affair was even the cause of the dismissal assumes, shall we say, facts not in evidence (all we know is it was grounds for appeal. But that's not a very high bar).

I never meant here to litigate the appropriateness of the Clinton impeachment, or the Trump impeachment effort for that matter. I was pointing out the absurdity of Tom's and Trumpies' attempts to assume there is no issue with Russia because the Mueller investigation has had months to look into it! They are attempting to create a false and absurd deadline on the investigation, because they don't necessarily want the truth. They just want a certain outcome (some anti Trumpies are similarly oriented on this issue, to be sure).

The Starr thing took 4 years, and what it latched onto hadn't happened yet when he was appointed. My only point in bringing it up is that Tommy is being no less absurd than those he's attacking. Everybody spikes the ball before they get anywhere near the end zone.
