Norwegian doesn't make you more skilled. I guess I'm really responding more to threads from a few days ago where multiple posters were repeating the phrase "being Norwegian is not a "skill" (must have been a dem talking point somewhere because multiple posters used the same phrase). This thread does refer to a more generic "qualification" which as you point out can be based on numerous factors, many of which would make a Haitian MORE "qualified" than a Norwegian.

I agree his comment was stupid.. .a) you can't refer to countries as shit holes as president, and b) most people from non-shit hole countries don't want to come here anyway. So generally speaking, the majority of people who want to immigrate to the US are going to come from places many would consider shit holes. I think we should have a mostly merit based immigration policy although there is room for humanitarian based immigration as well (but we can't take everyone that wants to come here for humanitarian reasons).

I think Trump was being his usual, knee jerk, unthoughtful, asshole self. I don't think we was saying Norwegians are better because they're white. I think he picked Norway because he had just met with the Prime Minister from Norway and it popped into his mind. But you guys can believe whatever you want.

I still can't believe we're still talking about this though. This is par for the course for Trump
