The topic is NOT irrelevant. While the local guys and probably the Feds

need to clean up procedure, and while it might be quite appropriate to remove people from jobs following investigations, the focus of this shooting is now becoming these local issues and foul-ups. Why? Because, the effort is to distract us from the real subject of the availability of these weapons to just about anybody capable of wielding a credit card.

Every disaster involves people who screwed up or didn't do their jobs. Often times these disasters demand a scapegoat so the root cause is not addressed. The deputy was outgunned. Yes, he (presumably) was trained to deal with this situation. I don't know if he froze, if he decided not to risk his life in the face of that firepower, if he had some other reason to not go in. The sheriff needs to know for obvious reasons. The PUBLIC needs to understand that the question is still weapons.
