Just so I'm clear, you're advocating constant monitoring of schools by

military personnel, all schools everywhere, rather than address the issue of guns in our society? Just from a practical standpoint, how do you propose to pay for that? How many soldiers are enough per school? Two? Five? Ten? Are we expecting these guys to act like they're in a war zone or will they also be well-versed in state and federal law? What are they going to do for the 99.9% of the time they're standing around looking for trouble, coach football? How will their jurisdiction overlap with local police?

Philosophically, what kind of message are you sending kids and society at large? Is America now an armed camp under siege in need of a daddy state of macho officers to take care of us? What other "soft targets" are in need of guarding?
