See I think that is incorrect, and tends to be the go to for whichever


party is looking to impeach. For repubs in the '90s who just wanted to overturn an election, lying about a blow job was impeachable. For dems now, the real suspicion was the collusion for which no evidence was uncovered, and Trump appears to have clumsily demanded all kinds of terrible things to obstruct an investigation, but Mueller concluded that the obstruction did not work, and the investigation produced no evidence of the crime that would be without question impeachable - conspiracy with a hostile foreign govt to steal an election.

Impeachment has never been about "rule of law". The clause in the Constitution makes very, very clear that a criminal can be president. All crimes are not impeachable. It is mostly about politics, and it is designed to ensure a purely politically driven impeachment process cannot turn out an elected president.

So political considerations should dominate this decision. Ironically, that former out of control extremist, Pelosi, seems to be the most clear minded dem thinker on this point.
