Who knows? First off, as I recall he qualified his remarks to be clear

that he was referring to what he felt - in other words, his comments were geared towards his own electorate more than to us, saying "look people of Ukraine, I will not be bullied".

Besides, nobody is suggesting that this one piece of evidence can't be considered, however you choose to interpret it. The argument is "let's hear from the people who were in the room when the president made the decision to unlawfully (according to the GAO) withhold aid." All the more now that it seems convincingly alleged by the former Natl Sec Adv that there was indeed a quid pro quo. Place all the weight you want on that one comment by Zelensky, but let's hear it all.

I don't even understand why this is remotely controversial. Only in the fantasies of complete devotees of Trumpistan was the quid pro quo questionable, from the day the transcript was released, which showed it in plain, clear English, to the Mulvaney presser where he told us all that he agreed it was obvious and we should all get over it.
