The Economist had an interesting piece this week on this topic

If you look at the data, aggregate activity levels are not all that high v normal (everyone didn't run to the local watering hole as soon as restrictions were eased...). But our (high) starting point and the nature of the spread can spell disaster, even when it is a small number of people to start.
