LOL! I HATE the CrossFitters and the vegans, too. I don't think I'm smug.
I rarely bring it up with anybody in real life unless they ask. What I want to know is why it's so important for religious types to try to convince me otherwise? Actually, to answer my own question, for most of them it's because they do care. If somebody says "I'll be praying for you" I always say thank you. Not because I think it will do one damned bit of good, but because it says they really do care for my well-being. However, that doesn't mean I won't tell them what I think, especially close friends and family.
For me personally, I don't feel the need to fill in the gaps with a faith concept. I try to be at peace internally (which is hard!), stay in shape physically (also hard!), and treat people as I'd want them to treat me. I think if people followed "do unto others" and "love thy neighbor" rather that focus on dogma, you'd probably solve 80% of the interpersonal problems in this world. You don't need a deity for that. In fact, given how screwed up a lot of things are, if there is a God and this is His plan then he needs to rethink it.
