Well, I have doubts that DB, or any other financial institution

Would have underwritten a loan to Trump (or any other company really) based on “brand value” as a primary source of repayment, so it think this debate is largely hypothetical...There are specialty finance companies and other funds that will lend against esoteric assets like brand value, IP, etc, but regulated banks typically won’t touch that type of lending...doesn’t mean he didn’t defraud them based on some other underwriting criteriabut who knows.

I knew a bunch of DB bankers back in the 90s/00s mostly through the acquisition of Bankers Trust and Alex Brown,which is how they established a foothold in the US IB market. The BT guys were animals...super aggressive and played right at the edge, but I never considered them “unethical”. I don’t have a view on their PWM arm which seems to be their primary interface with Trump world.
