I agree, and I am not anxious to see Schumer as majority leader.

I could not disagree any more with Schumer’s remarks. The sitting pres should be accorded the latitude to nominate, and the senate should confirm qualification, not ideology.

I disagree that this is all just run of the mill hypocrisy. The repubs denied even a vote to Garland with 1/4 of O’s term remaining, and then pushed through a nomination closer to an election than ever before in our history, a mere 4 years later.

So while dems have played their role in the erosion of the true senate role in this process (or maybe better, senate usurpation of the process), this Repub escalation blows it out of the water. Combining the ‘16 and now this - both unprecedented acts, and in ‘16, just a dereliction of duty - the repubs are on a new level of awfulness.

Which of course is redundant in the era of Trump. I’m not going to be happy about court packing if it happens, but I will pay no mind to the wails of trumpublicans either. They will be reaping what the sowed.
