It still amazes me that ads are so impactful at this point in the game.
I'm assuming that they are, or else these big spends would not take place.
It also supports the notion that a foreign influencer can very much impact votes with misinformation campaigns and that people who say "Show me one person who changed their vote due to X" are ignorant of the shortcomings of our own minds.
I always use the example of "Why don't you see people drinking Royal Crown cola anymore?". When i was a kid (i'm 46), RC was a legit option that some preferred. Then Coke and Pepsi went bananas on adds in the 80's and suddenly nobody prefers RC anymore. I don't think their tastebuds changed, but their mindset did, due to continual, tiny changes from ad bombardment.
