We're aligned -- that's what I mean by benevolent dictators (which most
good CEOs are). Corporate governance certainly varies from company to company, but a lot of the CEOs I've worked with over the years seem to have a near cult following among their employees. In most cases, it's because the guy's brilliant and has turned an idea into something real that they've all profited from and been a part of. But make no mistake -- it's the CEO's world and they're all living in it (talking more about younger companies where the founder is the CEO and either taken it public or close; obviously a different situation when you get to the "hired gun" culture of Fortune 500 CEOs). But it's just a much different vibe and MO than working in government and trying to get laws passed. Imagine a company where your employees could vote you out if they feel like they had a bad year!
