Well... I see them at Trump rallies for one.

There was a fairly prominent event on the 6th where there wasn’t a lot of mask compliance. Heck, there are GOP members of Congress who refuse to wear a mask leading to pelosi having to implement fines.

I was in a dealer waiting room this morning while my wife’s car was being serviced. A woman walked in with a trump 2020 mask worn around her chin. She sat down about 10’ away from me in another chair. When she coughed, I got up and moved to another part of the dealership.

Every time I do carry out from restaurants, there are people at the bar or seated at tables inside eating and drinking. In fairness, this seems to cut across people of all political stripes.

And it wasn’t just a horrible job with the messaging (ie underlying belief was ok, but the message was flawed). His message was consistently that covid is not a big deal, that it’s like the flu. Massive numbers of trump supporters believe covid is a hoax. Others say it’s real, but that the threat is overblown and it’s no worse than the flu. This is messaging that came directly from the president. (And no, I don’t want to get into a debate over the nuance of Trump’s “this is their new hoax” comment)

A lot of president’s job is to provide leadership, particularly during times of crisis. The presidents message was consistently and directly counterproductive to the objective of getting people to voluntarily comply with covid mitigation measures. That is a staggering failure of the most basic duties of the president, and even without the shit show of the last 2 months is what turned me so strongly against trump. He totally failed the country at time when all we needed was a little basic leadership.
