Because over 99% of those that get it survive. I tested positive last Mon,

my better half and stepson tested positive this week (most likely caught separately since I've been quarantined on a separate floor since testing positive, and she initially tested negative the day I did). For all three of us, as well as my sister last month, and many I've known that got it (that weren't elderly and/or have serious comorbidities) it hasn't even been "just like the flu". More like a cold or even less. I had it worst, and the worst was a bad sore throat for a few days.

Don't get me wrong, it needs to be taken seriously. And I understand why the randomness of the impact (Vinton is younger than me, apparently had no issues other than weight, and that story was scary as hell), even those that take lots of precautions are not safe (my sister is in the medical field albeit not one at risk for Covid, so constantly washing hands/using sanitizer and was very diligent about mask wearing), and those at high risk (like your wife) simply can't afford to take the chance.

But we've talked about this thing like it's the plague, or it's 50/50 you'll end up on a ventilator. All while destroying our economy and mostly ignoring the collateral damages of suicides, OD's, abuse, kids out of school, etc. When the vast, vast majority end up being just fine. Protect the most vulnerable, assist those that have been harmed by the choices Gov't had to take, take precautions with masks, distancing, etc, but let's get back as close to "normal" as we can, as quickly as we can.
