I actually don't think it was a good discussion on the Corner at all.

It was mostly a bunch of people rushing to judgement based on one (clearly very biased) side of the story, and ready to cut ties with their alma mater because of it, and I just think that's sad - and indicative of major problems we have in this country with disinformation.

At least some people acknowledged there might be more to the story, but most just chose to take everything in the article as 100% fact and that was the end of it.

Sure, if everything is 100% exactly as described and there is no additional relevant information, UVA was clearly wrong and the guy should easily win his lawsuit.  But I can't for the life of me think of a reason UVA would be willing to fight this in court if everything is as cut and dried as laid out in that article.  Why bother fighting something that is such a slam dunk?

I have to wonder if the lawsuit is focused on the panel and related "professionalism concern card" because that was overreach, but that the university's actions were based on a much broader pattern of actions over time even unrelated to that incident.

In reading the lawsuit, he was suspended for "aggressive and inappropriate interactions in multiple situations, including in public settings, during a speaker's lecture, with your Dean, and during the committee meeting yesterday."

He was also accused of engaging in threatening behavior to the extent that the police ordered a No Trespass Order "after concerns were raised about comments on a chat room that were perceived as threats...[The] comments raised safety concerns for the community [and] [t]he NTO was not a result of [Bhattacharya's] suspension."

Even if the professionalism card was wrong, there's a limit to what a reasonable defensive reaction is, and it doesn't include certain actions, behaviors, and threats.  Again, without the other side of the story, we don't know what those actions might have been - it could very well be that his actions were benign and UVA was completely wrong in all of it.  But we can't determine that based only on the guy's side of the story.

The kicker...  The lawsuit includes text from a letter he sent asking about the No Trespass Order, asking for clarification/details on the perceived threats, and in it he listed out the internet forums he posts on...including...4chan.
