You didn’t read it, which is fine, but you pointed out…

…both the author and the publication as somehow relevant to the issue at hand. which they’re not, and you totally avoided the fact that it’s lede was a U.Va. poll, also obviously nonpartisan.

Had you actually read it, you would have known that there was no partisanship in it whatsoever and, therefore, no reason to point out your perception about the political leanings of the author and publication. But because of your proclivities to evaluate things based on who’s saying them rather than what’s being said, you couldn’t help but make an irrelevant point.
