I’m not arguing for forced temporary residency, only that in

my profession that is a normal path many take. I am arguing for permanent residency and if you want to go back and forth then that’s fine.

Permanent residency will provide all the rights and protections they are looking for. The only thing citizenship offers beyond permanent residency is the right to vote. There has to be some punishment for breaking our law. If I rob a store to feed my kids and get caught I’m still going to be punished. The righteousness of the crime is irrelevant.

I don’t understand how you think permanent residency relegates immigrants to an underclass status if they have all the rights of citizens without the right to vote.
