At the Presidential level, I still think it comes down to a horrible candidate in Hillary who had been demonized for two decades. Or, maybe the fake news/Russia influence could have tipped the election in the Dems favor. Either one could have won the election for the dems.

At the local level, it is more complex.

I agree with the article, that with time, the demographics favor dem ideals, however, this may not lead to dem wins, since the GOP may adopt some of those positions to survive, which is fine by me.
