The dug-in positions on immigration perplex me

Be they 'any reform must include a path to citizenship (for illegals here)', or disagreement with the basic premise of Kate's Law, or tightening up sanctuary cities, or border security.

There seems so much reasonable middle ground but to my eye the majority of the immigration reform objections (edit) seem to line up on the side of the Dems.
