Did a little googling. Looks like it's an excise tax exemption


So it yields some pretty stupid optics, but it looks like we're talking about less than $5M per year in tax cuts. Given there are ~11K private jets registered in the US, that works out to $400 - $500 of savings on average per jet owner.

It's still stupid to give the stick to the opposition that they can use to beat you over the head, but it doesn't sound like a big deal.
