So it's better to do popular things than smart things?


I wish the whole tax bill was about lower corporate tax rates, because that would actually make sense and be a good thing. It's all the other nonsense that creates a lot of noise for no real meaningful change that drives me crazy.

Fix corporate taxes, punt on everything else unless you're going to make meaningful changes to the individual tax code. But tweaking rates, standard deductions, exemptions, what's deductible, etc, to end up largely back at the same place for individual income taxes... why bother?
