My thoughts

1. It's tragic. Like you, I'm surpised at how little attention it's getting, not just here, but elsewhere. It's the deadliest CA fire ever, and it's struggling to stay in the news.

3. Trump is a disgusting person. His tweet over the weekend about withholding funding while people are dying shows just how little sympathy/empathy this man has. He is a national embarrassment.

3. Climate change. It's not the only reason this is happening, but it is certainly helping make it worse. The rainy season is shortening in CA, so late fall is drier than normal, making this situation more likely. We need an actionable plan on climate change as too many disasters are happening, and while no one thing can be pointed at climate change, the amount of record events happening in such a short time should tell us that the climate is playing a role in this. There are things we can to do try and mitigate these risks, but one party doesn't even believe climate change is real.
