In 2008, we didn't have too many choices.

As much as people want to blame that on Bush, it wasn't Bush. It was technology outpacing infrastructure, innovation outpacing controls and transparency, and massively misaligned incentives. Big bureaucracies running rampant with these great new toys they had to play with. Long term thinking out the window.

In fact, that is probably why so many young people who came of age over the past 10 years find the word "socialism" so much less objectionable than we do. The answer isn't turn over all control to the govt, or keep the govt out of everything and let it be the Wild West.

And nobody remotely serious, not even the awful evil AOC, wants govt to control all the means of production and distribution in the American economy.
