Hope not. But I do want us to stand up for our allies. So you think

Erdogan would leap into a war against its most powerful NATO ally? The relationship between Turkey and the US is so asymmetrical in Turkey's favor that if Trump pushed back against Erdogan, he'd declare war?

One thing's for sure - Trump's abandonment of the Kurds dramatically increased disarray and fog of war. And increases the chances that we will find it far more difficult in the future to share the burden in fights like the one against ISIS.

We're Turkey's NATO ally too, you understand. Alliances work both ways. Except for Trumpistan. The Kurds are finding out that "alliance" with Trumpistan only puts obligations on the Kurds, not on Trumpistan. Trumpistan can abandon them to slaughter at will. Even when that's empowering the very same forces that we aligned with the Kurds to take down.
