I don't understand the Republican strategy. If they just ...

stayed to the right economically while being center right on social issues, they could have dominated the moderate / independent vote. Why they go out of their way to alienate minorities, LGBTQ communities, and now women ... it's lunacy. Just leave it alone. Stronger borders are fine. However, don't demonize an entire race who once leaned towards the GOP. Supporting law enforcement is fine, but then don't turn your back on the rule of law. Don't court white nationalist support. Don't troll African Americans. Don't demean our economic allies. Don't treat gay people as second class citizens.

Moving dramatically right on social issues and ignoring the rule of law ... while having an incoherent economic and foreign diplomacy plan will shrink their base even further. You can start to see Texas and Florida moving blue as well as North Carolina and parts of the rust belt. Nationally, the GOP can't survive just on the Bible Belt.

It's mind boggling strategy. The replacement of the Ginsburg seat could turn out to be a nightmare for the Republicans long term. Be careful what you wish for.
