Things out of the Constitution any time soon. But there is some lower hanging fruit - gerrymandering. I see no reason why we can’t agree that districts be drawn neutrally. Which would help make state politics more representative of their voting populations.

Next - we need to improve turnout consistently. I think with mail in voting or maybe online voting, although I am skeptical of the latter. I know mail in voting is a demon du jour to Trumpistan, but that’s a true “low information” objection. It has been tested and audited incredibly thoroughly for much more than a decade. Fine, this year’s objections are about the chaotic roll out due to the pandemic. Now, we can do it carefully with proven successful models to follow.

I think these steps to improve fairness and turnout at state levels would, at least hopefully, make these issues less worrisome. Let’s remember, there was not a single instance in the 20th century of divergence between the popular and electoral votes for pres. Just as that condition turned out not to be permanent, this one doesn’t have to be either. Part of this will be figuring out how to decamp us from our echo chambers so we can share a reasonably common view of reality.

Oh, and on the judiciary, I think term limits are the best answer.
