"Obamacare" was only an 'overreach' because Republicans moved the posts.


It was essentially THE Republican plan from 4 years earlier, but suddenly they were all opposed to it as socialist. I don't think it was really overreach. Disgusting, but effective, Republican tactics to paint it as something it wasn't, stir up a tea party movement and, yeah, the stupidity of a large portion of voters lead to the Dems then losing.

And as for willing to compromise? The Republican idea of compromise at that point in time was "OK, we disagree on these 9 points. If you agree to our viewpoint on all 9, well, then about 1/2 of us will vote for it. If you agree on 8, none of us will vote for it."
