When the CDC and Dr. Fauci say we can resume normal life that will probably

be good enough for me. I certainly think that will happen in stages. I certainly hope to be back in Scott Stadium in the fall and even more portly for me JPJ when the basketball season starts, even if mask wearing is still required. My partner and I are undecided as to when we’d be willing to get on an airplane again. Full disclosure she’s had her two shots for weeks now, she’s a healthcare worker, and I get my second shot tomorrow.
We had hoped to have traveled to multiple European destinations last year and this year but we’ve pretty much written off foreign travel until next year. We do intend to travel domestically and may actually attempt a trip as early as late April. I’m supposed to be doing a road trip with my two best friends to Colorado in May. They’re only going if they are vaccinated as well.
I also have an almost 1-month-old granddaughter I haven’t met yet, and my father turning 90 in three weeks. My parents got their second shot this past Saturday. Will probably do some sort of outdoor family gathering in mid March as none of my kids have received vaccinations and my daughter is due to have a baby in April.
I hope K through 10 in classroom schools are prevalent across the country by sometime this spring. I think that requires getting teachers vaccinated.

I don’t see government mandated vaccines happening but I do see a scenario where people will be or feel restricted if they can’t produce evidence of a vaccine, by private businesses and may be for a while public transportation and large gatherings

Kind of the same with masks. I think mask wearing may be with us for a while.

Having said all that there’s huge amount of uncertainties left. How long do the vaccines last? What variance will take over potentially and how well do the vaccines actually protect against them? Will we get enough vaccines in arms before another surge from the new variance occurs? Will people, vaccinated or not, declare victory too early and cause another surge?
