Taught. They don’t get to run the asylum - if they started insisting on book bans I think they would be reminded of the 1st amendment and politely dismissed. But I know that if I thought my kid were being taught that he “is” something - on a spectrum of privilege or of victimhood merely by virtue of his skin pigment - I’d have something to say about that, and if I were ignored, I would look for alternatives to the offending school.

So I disagree with that one short sentence. Parents are not the sole determiners of school curricula, or even the primary determiners. But they need to have a say, and they need to be heard.

More importantly from a political standpoint, and you have to win elections to get things done - parents vote. Pissed off parents turn out in large numbers. So that’s a smart political ad by Youngkin, and if Terry really is saying that, or allowing himself to be branded that way, well, that doesn’t sound very astute for such an experienced political operator.
