...So, I've been pretty chatty on the board the last few days, with the reason being that I'm holed up in isolation with the coof going stir-crazy. Thanks to everyone for keeping me entertained by engaging with my RW crazy -- it's really helped pass the time.
I'm posting because I'm curious to hear other people's anecdotes about recent COVID to see if we can put together a mosaic for what this thing looks like currently. We've got posters of all ages from all over the country, so I thought this might be interesting.
Here's my story (sorry for the length):
LA Hoo Jr. came down with it last Tuesday evening, a week ago. Started feeling crappy in the afternoon, and at 2AM they showed up in my and my wife's room feeling really bad. LA Hoo Jr. spent the next two days in bed pretty sick with some nausea and a fever of around 101-101.5, with a sore throat developing late on day two. By day three, everything was basically fine except the throat. Totally back to normal by day four, but still not allowed to go to school because still testing postive -- even a pos test today. So, we're back to Zoom school. Ugh.
Mrs. LA Hoo, who had been caring for LA Hoo Jr. while my other child and I isolated, came down with the coof last Thursday, five days ago. She had similar symptoms -- low fever for a couple of days, sore throat, but it lasted about three days for her instead of two. Now, she's basically fine and back to her nightly tequila cocktail, LOL.
This past Sunday, the four of us all went to get COVID tests, primarily to see when the kids could go back to school. LA HOO Jr. and Mrs. LA Hoo tested positive, as expected, while my other child and I both tested negative. All good, right?
Nope. By Sunday afternoon, after testing negative at 11AM Sunday morning, LA HOO III started feeling bad, and, by about 9PM, I was feeling bad, too. WTF? We both had fevers on Monday of around 101, but no other symptoms other than general lethargy, a headache and, for me, body aches and a mild sore throat. Same yesterday and today for me except the fever has relented. LA Hoo III is fine now -- no symptoms at all.
So, overall, not too bad for us so far, given the COVID horror stories we've all heard, but the crazy thing is the contagiousness of it. I'm not exaggerating in saying that I know more people with COVID right now than I have known cumulatively in the last two years. If it gets into a house, it's pretty much guaranteed to infect everyone as far as I can tell. Every single kid that our kids were in contact with prior to getting sick have it, and the parents are picking it up, too.
And it works fast -- like I said, LA HOO III and I tested negative for it in the morning on Sunday and were sick by the evening. Unreal -- is that how regular colds work? Everyone we know who has it has the same symptoms we've had (i.e., moderate cold or mild flu), and it doesn't appear to matter whether one is unvaxxed, 2-shot vaxxed or 3-shot boostered. While it would be nice to confirm that the vax is working, it's also nice to think that this variant is so mild that maybe it doesn't even matter. Let's hope.
Anyway, that's my story. Wondering what others are experiencing. Thanks in advance.
