Feels like every family I know is either experiencing it or just got over
It. Fingers crossed that this variant really is less serious for everyone. And that no new more serious variants emerge.
My nephew (brother’s kid) has been staying with my sister in CT because he just got an entry level part time gig with ESPN and she can put him up for free until he can get a place near Bristol. In just his second week at work, he drove up to her place, sat with her in the kitchen for a good hour plus, and then shortly thereafter started complaining of a sore throat, and sure enough, tested positive for Covid. That was about 7-8 days ago. She and my bro-in-law had just gotten over colds, which they caught from their grandchildren, and know it wasn’t Covid. Nephew had a sore throat for a while but is fine. ESPN policy makes him wait 10 days to go back.
Interestingly, I saw a report on the local news last night that cold infections may generate an immune response that guards against Covid. Something about T cells. And amazingly, neither my sister nor brother in law, who are staying away from the kid now but didn’t at first, have tested positive. So maybe there is something to that report about colds providing some protection against Covid.
Anyway, hope your household is entirely back in business very soon.
