Yup, GS is fantastic. Flying still sucks but it makes it suck a lot less.

Honestly as much as I recognize UA screwed up (they could have offered more money, cajoled people a bit more, and yes, treated the bumped passengers more gently etc), I also don't understand why passengers act the way this guy does. Bumping sucks but it is a fact of life when you fly. It's even in the contract of carriage. YOu buy a ticket you take this risk. This is flying, it's not specific to UA

Also, when the airline tells you to get off the plane, you get off the plane. Period, end of story. Life is too short to embroil yourself in this kind of hassle.
